Children, Youth & Family Ministry at Calvary
The mission of Children, Youth &
Family Ministry is to serve children, youth and parents in
their faith in Christ and their service to others in daily
living.
We fulfill this mission when we:

Equip families to function well as
cradles of faith and service,

Encourage gatherings for children,
youth, and parents where faith is taught, relationships are
forged, and the Christian life is modeled,

Create an atmosphere in the
congregation that is welcoming and nurturing to families.
Welcome to Matt Byrd

Children, Youth & Family Ministry
Here’s a note from Matt:
I grew up in Hillsboro, Oregon. I am a graduate of Oregon State
University with a B.S. in speech communications. I am currently
enrolled in the Distributed Learning M-Div program at Luther
Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. My wife Jill is a Senior
Contract Officer for World Vision and she frequently travels to
Africa to hold trainings for World Vision employees. Our son Sam
is in first grade at Hunt Elementary School in Puyallup. I love
to play the guitar, especially rock and roll classics from the
50’s and 60’s. I love to paint, read good books when I have
time, and love to tinker around the house with home improvement
projects. I am a sports fan and love to talk about my favorite
teams. I am looking forward to getting to know the youth and
families of Calvary Lutheran church.
