Unbinding Your Heart Report &
Feedback
What was successful:
12 small groups met with a trained facilitator for 6 weeks
2/3 of the way through Lent, facilitators met to discuss
highs/lows and give feedback
102 people signed up
100 people completed
Learning in Motion spent the six weeks building an altar for
home prayer
Confirmation Youth focused on prayer and devotions
77% of worshipping community completed the journey
“Likes” as expressed by feedback:
people enjoyed the opportunity to share their faith and listen
to others’ faith stories
small group experience
sermon, chapter and prayer journal intertwined weekly
others were doing the same exercises during the week (we were
all on the same page)
provided a way to make mobile through CD
they were equipped rather than instructed (examples of dinner
table use, taking walks with children)
“Wants” as expressed by feedback:
continue small groups that equip
continue adult faith formation
continue sharing of faith stories in small groups and /or
during services
continue focused/themed prayer
What we need to do still…
figure out how to continue the forward momentum
form an evangelism team that focuses on prayer and adult faith
formation
provide opportunities for small groups and faith sharing [one
possibility, Martha Grace Reese’s next book: Unbinding the
Soul]
equip ourselves in prayer and faith sharing, and practice
amongst ourselves so we can move forward
realize this process will take time
realize we all progress at different speeds
What we accomplished…
created opportunities for people to talk about their faith
created opportunities for people to look at/examine their
faith life
opened the door for a look at the new evangelism (sharing
faith stories)
filled a void (social as well as faith based) people needed
this--as shows in the numbers
