Does your child worry about school, friends, nightmares, sleeping alone, robbers, etc.? If so, your child is not alone. Childhood anxiety affects more children than ever before. It is the number one referring concern for many child psychologists. Anxiety can be a highly distressing problem that can disrupt self-esteem, relationships, mood, school performance, and even school attendance. But the good news is that anxiety is treatable, and parents can be given tools to minimize their child’s anxieties.

During this morning seminar, we will look at causes of anxiety, how it affects the brain and the body, and most importantly, what tools you and your child can use to minimize the worry. The seminar format will be education, discussion, and book reviews.

Sally Baird, Ph.D. has had a private practice in Federal Way for over twenty years. She provides both evaluations and therapy for clients of all ages with an emphasis on children and teens. She has also been a school psychologist, parent educator, psychologist consultant, and registered nurse.
