Education & Fellowship - Children & Youth

The Mission of Children, Youth & Family Ministry at CalvaryHelping a child enjoy Christmas Eve candles

The mission of Children, Youth & Family  Ministry is to serve children, youth and parents in their faith in Christ and their service to others in daily living.

We fulfill this mission when we:

  • Equip families to function well as cradles of faith and service,

  • Encourage gatherings for children, youth, and parents where faith is taught, relationships are forged, and the Christian life is modeled,

  • Create an atmosphere in the congregation that is welcoming and nurturing to families.

Confirmation InstructionCalvary's Confirmands
Confirmation is the Affirmation of our Baptism, that is, teaching about God's saving in Jesus Christ. Our Confirmation class is a three-year program beginning in 6th Grade. Instruction consists of youth group on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. in the  Social Hall, as well as retreats throughout the year. We also participate in social activities, service projects, and worship in addition to our own daily personal prayers and devotions. We celebrated Confirmation on May 11. We are excited to begin our new season of learning. We welcome 3 new 6th Graders to our Confirmation program. We have 9 youth attending Confirmation Camp on August 10-15. We will begin our fall  program with Fall Kickoff Tailgate party on September 7th. If you have a youth this age, we would like to give you  more information on our Confirmation program.

Faith Lens: Helping Youth Connect Life and Faith

Have you ever wondered how to help young people better understand their daily lives and world events in the context of their faith and scripture? Faith Lens, a free online weekly Bible study for youth can do just that. This Bible study is presented by our synod (ELCA) and is designed for senior-high age youth but is adaptable for young adults and adult groups. You will find a current news story and related discussion questions that corresponds to the lessons discussed in worship (following the Lectionary).
